This week’s Wednesday Video Fix is a speech given by David Bellos for “Big Think” on the history and future of machine translation.

David Bellos is an English-born renowned translator and biographer. He is the author of a number of biographies including Georges Perec. A Life in Words and Jacques Tati, His Life and Art.

He has translated authors like Gorges Perec, Ismail Kadare or Fred Vargas. He currently teaches French and Comparative literature at Princeton University in the United States and is also the director of Princeton’s Programme in Translation and Intercultural Communication.

His book, Is That a Fish in Your Ear? Translation and the Meaning of Everything published in 2011 focuses on the importance of translation as part of our daily experiences.
