IATE Term of the Week – Freedom of speech

Myanmar human rights legend Aung San Suu Kyi finally received her Sakharov Prize on 22 October, 23 years after it was awarded by the European Parliament. That’s why the Terminology Coordination Unit has chosen, as term of the week, “freedom of speech”. More information about the ceremony can be found in this article and, below, a short clip about Aung San Suu Kyi.

Here, the charter of fundamental rights of the European Union.

We invite you to suggest the equivalent terms in the missing EU languages, or alternatives to the existing term in your language if you consider the proposed term inaccurate. Provide your answer with a reliable reference and possibly an accurate definition and/or context.

Contribute to IATE!

A terminologist for the respective language will revise your answer and decide whether to validate them. Given the implications of the process, a delay is to be expected.
