IATE Term of the Week: World Rare Diseases Day

Rare Disease Day

The 28th February is the 7th Rare Disease Day. This is an annual event launched and co-ordinated by EURORDIS at the international level and by National Alliances and Patient Organisations at the national level. Its main objective is to raise awareness amongst the general public and decision-makers about rare diseases and their impact on patients’ lives. For this reason we have chosen “World Rare Diseases Day” as our Term of the Week. Find out more about this topic with the portal for rare diseases and orphan drugs Orphanet, and with this glossary. You can also learn more from the European Union Committee of Experts on Rare Diseases’ website.

A terminologist for the language in question will revise your answer and decide whether to validate them. Given the implications of the process, a delay is to be expected.
