The Department for General Assembly and Conference Management of the United Nations hosted the 2015 International Annual Meeting on Computer-Assisted Translation and Terminology (JIAMCATT). JIAMCATT is part of the Working Group on Language Services of the International Annual Meeting on Language Arrangements, Documentation and Publications (IAMLADP). DGACM is the Permanent Chair of IAMLADP.
The meeting was attended by about 150 managers and staff members from 70 international organisations, who exchanged ideas and best practices regarding terminological resources, machine translation and toolboxes for translators and other language professions. Besides the presentations delivered in the main conference room, several discussion groups and workshops were organized in parallel, including a technical session for machine translation developers.
This year, the International Annual Meeting on Computer-Assisted Translation and Terminology (JIAMCATT) took place in the Headquarters of the UN in New York. JIAMCATT 2015 focused on Collaboration, namely on how can we use IT tools to better work together, and work together in order to better use our IT tools? Presentations on new CAT tools were given by professionals to inspire and share expertise among the JIAMCATT community and its partners. One of these tools is ELUNA, a web based translation tool developed by the UN, which was presented during an interactive working session.
