Maria Teresa Zanola – Diachronic terminology studies

2352

Diachronic terminology studies present an interesting publication by Maria Teresa Zanola about the life of words. The book is part of the line of the pioneer research Lerdinand Brunot and his brilliant historical epic of the French language, which analyses the political, economic, scientific and technical language in 18th century.

The study is divided in three parts:

  1. Pour une terminologie diachronique
  2. Les méthodes descriptives
  3. Arts et métiers pour le luxe : techniques, innovations et terminologies

The book ends as it began: analysing the method. There is a terminological analysis on the creation of neologisms, which finds its way between a wise academic formation and the protection of the requirements of the understanding and the sharing of knowledge. You can find more information about the study on the website of the Centre National du Livre.

Maria Teresa Zanola is a professor of French language and translation at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore of Milan, where she is Director of the Linguistic Centre and of the “Osservatorio di terminologie e politiche linguistiche” (Observatory for terminologies and language policies, OTPL).

TermCoord publishes on a web-page called “Why is Terminology  your Passion?” interviews with prominent terminologists and we have had the pleasure to interview Maria Teresa Zanola.
