The Spanish linguist Juan Romeu Fernández is the brain behind this idea. Where chemists see elements, this linguist saw also spelling norms and he developed a chart based on the symbols of the well-known periodic table. His spelling periodic table keeps the original chemical nomenclatures but with a short description of Spanish spelling standards related to the corresponding one or two letters. Immediately after its publication, the table went viral. Clearly, it is very useful!
Juan Romeu Fernández is a Spanish linguist with an extensive experience in grammar, orthography and lexicography issues. He has a PhD degree in Spanish Philology acquired at the Complutense University of Madrid. Dr. Romeu has worked for the Spanish Royal Academy of Language as a proofreader of “La nueva gramática” chapters and as a lexicographer in the SM’s Dictionary.
