#MondayReading: Climate Change Key Terms in 23 Languages

1715

For this week, we decided to dedicate our #MondayReading category to climate change. From the moment though that terminology is our passion, what could be better than a reading related to climate change valuable terms? Thus, we present you the brochure produced by the General Secretariat of the Council in 2011 entitled Climate Change Key Terms in 23 Languages.

MondayReading Climate Change

From the first important effort on 1997 with the Kyoto Protocol and its 2012 amendment, to the Paris climate conference (COP21) in December 2015, where 195 countries adopted an unprecedented universal, legally binding global climate deal, the unchangeable fact is one: climate change process is a modern Odyssey which affects us all, but still, is not being understood by all of us.

This glossary is not only a very good illustration of the degree of effort invested: it will also provide useful guidance for citizens who simply want to have a better understanding of what they hear and read in a language which is not their mother tongue.

We hope this initiative of 2011 to be repeated again soon because the climate related terminology, positively and negatively, is being continuously enriched. In case you have spotted additional terms and you consider them key or important, please feel free to contribute by commenting under the article or by sending us feedback to the public IATE related section.

Enjoy your discovery and stay tuned for our next #MondayReading!
