EU Terminology: “Ein Berliner”

1986

TKE2014TKE Berlin 2014
11th International Conference on Terminology and Knowledge Engineering focusing on Ontology, Terminology & Text Mining

This conference was organised by GTW and DIN Deutsches Institut für Normung e.V. in cooperation with Inria, Coreon, Cologne University of Applied Sciences, Copenhagen Business School, Termnet and other associations and consortia, national and international organisations.

The aim of this conference was to bring together researchers from these related fields, provide an overview of the state-of-the-art technologies, discuss problems and opportunities as well as exchange information regarding the topics mentioned above.
The EU terminology context was introduced in all its aspects: from the challenges that TermCoord as well as the other EU institutions face in communication, the cooperation and administration of our common interactive database and terminology portal, to the cooperation and sharing of resources between EU institutions and other international organisations as well as with the wider public and the academic sector of terminology.
In the framework of this latter cooperation with universities, current pilot projects were presented aiming to convert the EU terminology database IATE into a knowledge base. By means of ontologies and via a web-service, IATE would be connected to other EU databases and integrated in different CAT tools in the future.
Please refer to the presentation given by Rodolfo Maslias and prepared along with Marie-José Palos Caravina (Translation Centre) and Carolina Dunaevsky (University of Cologne and currently TermCoord trainee) −the team representing EU Terminology at TKE 2014.
