Looking Up Finance in Dictionary preview imageThe presentation ‘Strategies to tackle ‘Misleading transparency’ in the translation of economics and finance’ was elaborated by Maria Teresa Musacchio. It was presented during the 20th European Symposium on Languages for Special Purposes on Multilingualism in Specialized Communication: Challenged and Opportunities in the Digital Age, which took place last summer in the Centre for Translation Studies, University of Vienna (Austria).

Maria Teresa Musacchio is an Associate Professor of English language and translation at the University of Padova, Italy, where she lectures in English for special purposes, translation and terminology in programmes from bachelors through masters to doctoral level. She is currently coordinator of the undergraduate and graduate courses in Intercultural communication. Her research activity lies within the field of LSP translation, with particular focus on LSPs, corpus-based studies, contrastive analysis of English and Italian LSPs and terminology. She has published essays in all these areas.

She is currently working on LSP text complexity, reading and translation, figurative language in LSPs and their translation,  corpus-based analyses of the language of popular science, corpus-driven studies of science in translation,  and the use of discourse markers in LSP translated texts. She is also leading the Padova research group within Slandail, a European Union FP7 Project.
