Mapping EU languages

We are very happy to announce the launching of a new section in our website: a compilation of language-specific resources in the different EU official languages!

Our mission as Terminology Coordination of the European Parliament is to help translators within our institution with the management of terminology and with other translation-related tasks, such as the retrieval of documents, access to EU and non-EU glossaries and coordination of terminology work for the interinstitutional database IATE. However, we also strive to make our work and resources available for the general public and for translators and other language professionals outside the EU institutions, so that the work done within the Parliament can have a positive impact on society and on our professional field. Bearing this in mind, we have created a new section in our website called Language-specific resources with a view to improving the support provided to the users of our site.

The compilation does not include general dictionaries, since those can be easily found outside our site.

The different language-specific lists can be accessed in two ways: either by clicking on the relevant country and language on the main map (also available on the header of TermCoord’s home page) or by accessing directly the relevant language page listed below the map. The project is still being tested and updated, hence some languages are still in the process of being completed. For this reason, we would very much appreciate your contribution: if you know of any interesting resource unique to your language that you consider could be helpful to language professionals, please feel free to send us an email (dgtrad.termcoord@europarl.europa.eu) so we can add it to the relevant language page.

Do not forget that you can also access the Glossary Links, the EU glossaries, DocHound and the Terminology Search tools from the Resources active menu on the right of our website.

We are looking forward to your feedback! Kindly let us know how we can improve this project and make it (even) more useful.
