We invite you to read the book “From waste-to-energy. Per una terminologia dei rifiuti“, written by Virginia Formisano (PhD from the University of Naples), which collects information on the terminological gap in the subject of collection and treatment of solid waste and proposes an English-Italian glossary to solve it.

This book is the outcome of an investigation influenced by the difficulties experienced in recent years by the city and the province of Naples on the disposal of solid urban waste. The first results brought to light the lack of linguistic tools, especially the lack of specialized dictionaries and glossaries. Therefore, considering the importance of terminology in specialized communication, the general objective of the work was to fill the terminological gap by compiling a bilingual glossary (English and Italian) done by sector type.

Virginia Formisano holds a PhD in “Technological, Scientist and Literary Eurolanguages” and works as an Administrative Manager of the “Centro d’Ateneo per l’Erogazione dei Servizi Linguistici (CASL)” of the University of Naples “Parthenope”, where she contributed to the foundation. She is the author of various essays, including “Contamination in specialized lexicons: the case of imprimerie” in Dictionnaire et terminologie des arts et métiers (2013); “Cultural Terminology and Designation Choices” in Le mot imprime: du papier a l’ether (2013).
