IATE Term of the Week: UN Women

1367

In honour of International Women’s Day celebrated on 8 March this year, our IATE Term of the Week is UN Women.

As the UN’s gender equality entity, UN Women focuses on public services, income security, safe spaces and technology to advance progress for women and girls.

This year UN Women is celebrating International Women’s Day with the theme “Think Equal, Build Smart, Innovate for Change” and festivities planned around the world. An official commemorative event will be held at UN headquarters in New York, with keynote remarks from UN Women Executive Director Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka and other senior UN officials.

IATE entry for UN Women:

On 7 March, the European Parliament held an inter-parliamentary committee meeting on Women’s Power in Politics, while the DG’s Personnel’s Equality and Diversity Unit held a round table discussion on how to empower women leaders and promote women’s visibility in the public sphere.
