Video-Fix World AIDS Day feature

Video-Fix World AIDS DayToday is the World AIDS Day. It is a day for supporting the people living with HIV and commemorating those who have died because of AIDS-related illnesses. However, it is also a day for fighting for a world without HIV. In 2018, 6.000 adolescent girls and young women became infected with HIV every week. Better knowledge, information and HIV prevention tools can help reduce this number. World AIDS Day strives to give people more information on this issue.

In today’s Video-Fix, we will therefore show you a press conference from the United Nations by Ninan Varughese who is the Director a.i. of the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV and AIDS (UNAIDS). Mr. Varughese presents this year’s World AIDS Day report and mentions key aspects of the report. Mr. Varughese also answers question from journalist about the report and key regions where extra effort needs to be done.

If you want to learn more about the World AIDS Day and this year’s theme Communities make the difference, you can check it out at the UN campaign website. You can also read the whole World AIDS Day report for 2019.
