Homemade Street Food recipes

The I·ATE term of this week is dedicated to street food that we can make in our kitchen. We follow the advice against the COVID-19 and we stay home preparing some street food delicacies from Europe!
The term street food is famous and widely used across countries. But what is it exactly? For me the definition of the term doesn’t stop on “food prepared and consumed in an open space environment”. Street food has to be both food and a delicacy. You must eat it using your hands. It is cheap so everybody can enjoy it. That makes it democratic and not pretentious. It is easily made but still tasteful. It brings people closer because you can share it with your friend, family, colleague or partner. You can consume it while walking in the park, while shopping in the city center, after a night out or during your lunch break.

In Greece we call it «βρώμικο» which means “dirty”, because when you eat it you feel a bit guilty about it. In any case, enjoying street food is a great occasion to meet old friends and new people. For this week, TermCoord decided to make a fine selection of previous I·ATE Food Terms of the Week and present you its favorite street food dishes. In case you already miss these tastes, you can make them now in your own kitchen!

Extra tip: by clicking on one of the following recipes you will have the opportunity to learn more about the history of each dish.

Let’s stay home, stay safe and prepare street food specialties from around the world for our beloved ones!
