For 2020, the yearly JIAMCATT Conference was planned to be hosted by the International Maritime Organisation in London.

TermCoord had foreseen together with the hosting organisation to present the MARE project, a terminology project on fisheries and maritime security, which forms part of “Terminology without Borders”, a collaboration between the European Parliament, universities, European Agencies and international organisations.

The JIAMCATT liaison committee decided to organise a virtual event connecting all the participants online. On 16th April 2020, TermCoord’s Rodolfo Maslias and Anna Cazzato presented Terminology without Borders” in its entirety, its new website, yourterm.org, and the workflow of the collaboration using the MARE project as an example. Marie-Jo Palos Caravina from the Translation Centre presented the terminology work of the two related EU-Agencies, EFCA based in Vigo on fish names and EMSA based in Lisbon on maritime security. After Luxembourg, the virtual international panel continued with Professor Raffaella Antinucci from Italy who presented the terminology work of the University Parthenope of Naples for the project, followed by Lionel Shen from London who presented the contribution of the IMO-experts to the project and the database IMOTERM, recently integrated in the huge multilingual database of the United Nations, UNTERM.

You can access the presentation which also provides a short virtual tour of the YourTerm Mare project here.
