Chinese New Year, also known as Spring Festival or Chinese Lunar New Year, is the biggest festival in China. It is the first day of a year on the traditional Chinese lunar calendar. The celebration of Chinese New Year lasts normally a half month from Lunar New Year’s Eve until the Lantern Festival. The whole country is dominated by iconic red lanterns, loud fireworks, massive banquets and parades during this time.
In 2020, the Chinese New Year falls on January 25. It is the Year of the Rat according to the Chinese zodiac. In this video, you will learn all about the traditions and legends that make Chinese Lunar New Year one of the most exciting times of the year.
