Online: March 16-19th 2021. Endorse: The European Data Conference on Reference Data and Semantics. High dynamism and innovation underpin digital transformation of our public administrations. In this context, there is a need to overcome organizational silos by sharing best practices and lessons learned. The Publications Office of the European Union and the ISA² programme of the European Commission worked together to create an opportunity to link expertise to tackle current and future issues in the fields of interoperability and knowledge management.

APRIL 2021

Hong Kong Baptist University (Hong Kong): April 8-9th 2021. The 2nd HKBU International Conference on Interpreting. Theme: “Cognitive Approaches”. As new perspectives emerge from cognitive research of Interpreting Studies, the Second HKNU International Conference on Interpreting aspires to bring together top scholars and emerging researchers in both spoken language and sign language interpreting.

Online: April 19-23rd 2021. JIAMCATT. It will in particular cover the topics machine translation and post-editing, collaborative and/or cloud-based CAT tools and platforms and provide updates on language technology projects from JIAMCATT member organizations and academia.

Online: April 23rd, 2021. Conference on Linguistic Rights and Language Varieties in Europe in the Age of AI. This conference, organised by the University of Turin (Italy), will focus on various topics, including linguistics, terminology, Machine Translation, human rights and artificial intelligence. The talks will be held in English, Italian and French. Registration is needed to attend.

Online and on-site in Chambéry (France): June 3-4th 2021. Terminology & Ontology: Theories and applications. The TOTh Conferences – Terminology & Ontology: Theories and applications – bring together researchers, professionals and, more generally, all persons interested in issues related to language and knowledge engineering. The program will include accepted communications, an opening talk, and a poster session.

Winterthur (Switzerland): June 27th – July 2nd 2021. 17th International Pragmatics Conference. Special theme: “The Pragmatics of Inclusion”. In the framework of this conference a panel will be organized on ‘Interpreting in mental health’.

JULY 2021

Online conference: July 15th 2021. Knowledge Organization and Management in the domain of Environment and Earth Observation (KOMEEO). Organized by the Laboratory of Documentation (LabDoc) of the Department of Education, Culture and Society of the University of Calabria and by the Italian Chapter of the International Society of Knowledge Organization (ISKO). This conference will focus on knowledge organisation and management in the environmental and earth observation domain.

Alexandroupolis (Greece): September 7-11th 2021. The XIX EURALEX International Congress brings together professional lexicographers, publishers, researchers, software developers and others interested in dictionaries of all types. The motto of this edition of the EURALEX International Congress is: Lexicography for Inclusion. The program includes plenary lectures, parallel sessions on various topics, software demonstrations, pre-congress tutorials and specialized workshops, a book and software exhibition as well as social events for participants and their guests.

La XVIIe Journée Scientifique virtuelle REALITER « La terminologie dans la dimension sociale de la communication » se propose d’interroger les relations entre la terminologie et la dimension sociale de la communication en questionnant tous les phénomènes de cet impact dans le transfert des connaissances en perspective intra- et interlinguistique, bien au-delà du texte/contexte spécialisé.

Tallinn (Estonia): October 7–8th 2021. National languages in academic research and higher education. The aim of the event is to confer on the current situation of national languages in the globalizing world of science, dealing with every kind of achievements and problems of using national or state languages in academia. We welcome discussion on contemporary tendencies of using diverse mother tongues for academic research and higher education of any specialty, and on different solutions on how to reach a sustainable balance between national and international, multilingual scientific work and communication.

Naples (Italy) – online: November 3–5th 2021. 12èmes Journées du Réseau LTT – Lexicologie, Terminologie, Traduction. « La traduction au service des institutions : outils, expérimentations et innovations pour le multilinguisme ». Università degli Studi di Napoli « L’Orientale », Dipartimento di Studi Letterari, Linguistici e Comparati. Le Colloque s’articulera autour de trois axes principaux :1) l’évolution et l’adaptation méthodologique des pratiques traductives en contexte institutionnel ; 2) les outils, les expérimentations et les innovations au service de la traduction institutionnelle ; 3) la formation des traducteurs spécialisés (méthodes, pratiques, objectifs). Pau (France): November 26th 2021. Study day “Translating double language: double play and double meaning”. The objective of the study day is to reflect on the strategies implemented by translators to translate both a joke in Shakespeare’s text and the titles of articles in newspapers that include puns or allusions.

Online: November 15th 2021. 43rd Translating and the Computer Conference (TC43). The annual conference on translation technologies organised by AsLing (Association internationale pour la promotion des technologies linguistiques) will be held virtually this year, as well. It will be addressed to linguists, academics, private businesses and international organisations. Some of the topics covered will be: computer-assisted translation, interpreting tools, translation memory software, terminology management systems and Machine Translation. Fisciano (SA), Italy: November 25-26th, 2021. The Language Variation and Change across Borders (LVC2021) Conference, organised by the University of Salerno. The conference will focus on language and identity, belonging, migration, translation and related fields. DECEMBER 2021

Paris (France) – in presence or online: December 10th 2021. TOTh Terminology, interoperability and Data integration. The workshop will focus on the relation between terminology and ontology, in the field of knowledge engineering. Ontologies have a fundamental role in the interoperability of terminological data. Among the topics of the workshop there will be terminology standards, Linked Open Data, Linguistic Open Data, Linked Open Vocabulary, Knowledge Organisation Systems, System and Organisation Control. Papers will need to be submitted by 1st October 2021.
