TermCoord provides targeted TermBases (thematic and with defined terms) for important procedures and packages. The messages informing about the availability of such TermBases appear on the FdRs.

TermBases provided for translators working with SDL Studio (.sdltb) or other CAT Tools (.tbx)

Since the CAT tools (SDL Studio or others) can handle several TermBases in the same translation project, TermCoord has divided the terminological support material into three separate, but related TermBases:

  • one TermBase that contains only the the defined terms and their definitions extracted from COM proposal(s) and related legal acts in force in this domain (e.g. fit-for-55-COM.sdltb)
  • one TermBase that contains the terms closely related to the procedure or package (e.g. fit-for-55.sdltb),
  • and another complementary TermBase that contains terms which serve as background information (e.g. fit-for-55-complementary.sdltb)

TermCoord would like to recommend the simultaneous use of such TermBases in the above-mentioned order of priority. Other TermBases (either retrieved from IATE, or unit-specific) can be used together with these three TermBases, if needed.

  • IATE collections – contain all the terms from the IATE collections used for the creation of the TermBases in .sdltb and .tbx
  • Defined terms – contain the defined terms and their definitions extracted from COM proposal(s) and related legal acts in force in this domain
