International Terminology Bodies and Networks

      • Association for Terminology and Knowledge Transfer (GTW): National and international forum for the promotion of knowledge and technology transfer by means of research and development with regard to technological procedures for special language communication on the basis of terminological procedures and data.
      • European Association for Terminology (EAFT): Non-profit professional organisation for the terminology sector in Europe.
      • International Institute for Terminology Research (IITF): Forum for theoretical and applied terminology research, teaching and training; it provides those actively engaged in research, especially within the academic world, with a professional platform for both exchange of experience and information, and joint research and training projects.
      • International Network for Terminology (TermNet): International co-operation forum for organisations, who want to benefit from the knowledge and expertise of a global network.
      • International Annual Meeting on Computer-Assisted Translation and Terminology (JIAMCATT): provides its partners with a forum for debate, exchange of expertise and cooperation in the fields of computer-assisted terminology and translation, interpretation and documentation retrieval.
      • INFOTERM: International Information Centre for Terminology that supports and co-ordinates international co-operation in the field of terminology.
      • International Association for Ontology and its Applications (IAOA): Non-profit organization the purpose of which is to promote interdisciplinary research and international collaboration at the intersection of philosophical ontology, linguistics, logic, cognitive science, and computer science, as well as in the applications of ontological analysis to conceptual modeling, knowledge engineering, knowledge management, information-systems development, library and information science, scientific research, and semantic technologies in general.
      • International Federation of Translators (FIT): International grouping of associations of translators, interpreters and terminologists.
      • Kamusi Project International (KPI): Participatory international effort dedicated to improving knowledge of the world’s languages.
      • International Annual Meeting on Language Arrangements, Documentation and Publications (IAMLADP): Forum and network of managers of international organizations employing conference and language services providers – mainly translators and interpreters.
      • Localisation Training Center (LTC): Erasmus University College Brussels. The LTC site was designed as an online information center for localisation technology, education and training. The LTC or Localisation Training Centre, is the first specific forum in the Benelux for people and organizations involved in professional language technology.
      • Localisation Research Centre (LRC): Department of Compute Science and Information Systems, University of Limerick, Ireland. The Localisation Research Centre is an information, training and research center for localization. The center was founded in 1995 and has been held in a long-term structure and framework to investigate localization. The center focuses primarily on the development and evaluation of localization tools, and education and training.
