Our colleagues from the Terminology service of the NATO Standardization Office in Brussels, Axelle Vansnick and Folkert Zijlstra, visited TermCoord last week and we had a very extensive exchange of know-how and experience concerning terminology management in our Institutions.
We especially discussed in detail our respective internal communication strategy and tools. They had the opportunity to have a detailed presentation of our Interinstitutional Terminology Portal EurTerm by its coordinator Maria Pia Montoro and we could compare and exchange know-how on the management of our portal and of the already public website and database NATO term.
Another main focus of the meeting was the work-flow of establishing the “NATO agreed” terminology having the status of compulsory terminology for all documents, especially in view of creating subsets of normative terminology in IATE. These could be included in the extraction of text-related term bases for the CAT tools used in the European Parliament.
