We are pleased to announce that the application period for the 2024 Schuman Traineeship session has started! Join us from March 2024 to July 2024 on a new professional journey in the Directorate-General for Translation of the European. The deadline to apply for a five-month paid traineeship in the Terminology Coordination Unit is 31 October. There is no better place for an aspiring terminologist to be!

Two trainee positions are available at TermCoord in the area of terminology. Our ideal candidates should be proficient in English and at least one more official language of the EU and have experience in terminology.

As a trainee in the Terminology Coordination Unit of the European Parliament, you will have to extract terminology (manually or using terminology extraction tools) from relevant texts in the fields of activity of the EU and the EP in particular, to research these terms and to prepare topical projects. You will also use corpus analysis tools to prepare specific terminology projects. You will learn how to work with the EU’s terminology database, IATE, and how to retrieve/export termbases for integration into computer-assisted translation tools. You will gain project management experience by participating in the coordination of projects for translation trainees in the 24 EU languages, write or evaluate articles on terminology for our pages on the official website of the European Parliament and search the web for relevant terminology sources suitable for integration into the search engines accessible in the EP. You will also play an important coordinating role in our academic cooperation “Terminology without Borders”.
