“Machine Translation in Translation Practice”: some details about this upcoming 4th annual conference

1201

Machine translationThe 4th annual conference on secure machine translation in public administrations – “Machine Translation in Translation Practice” – is finally taking place in Brussels on December 4, 2015. On this occasion, you will be able to share your experiences with in-house translation professionals from public and private-sector organisations and institutions.

For those who don’t know yet, the European Commission’s online machine translation service can become a really useful tool if you need a quick, raw translation of a text in a language you can’t read. You can even use the product free of charge if you work in public administration in an EU country, Iceland or Norway, or in an EU institution or agency. Of course, it works best with texts on EU-related matters – and that is also why, if you need an accurate, high-quality translation, you have to keep in mind that the text must be revised by a skilled professional translator.

In order to attend the conference you must register – alternatively, you have the possibility to watch it online (live or recorded).

You can find the complete programme at this link; otherwise, do not forget to send an e-mail to DGT-MT-WORK@ec.europa.eu if you need more general information about the service.

(Venue: Albert Borschette Congress Centre (CCAB), Rue Froissart 36, Brussels.)
